How To Clean Grease From Kitchen Cabinets

Video Component Kitchen cabinets are for storing dishes, not grease. Unfortunately, wood cabinets are prone to all sorts of grease, grime, and gunk from simply being in the kitchen. In this article, we’ll walk you through cleaning greasy kitchen cabinets in a few simple steps. 1. Lather Up. Apply a few drops of concentrated dish liquid, like Dawn®, into a bowl of warm water, then dip the sponge in. Squeeze the sponge until suds form. The cleaning agents in Dawn absorb grease just as well on kitchen surfaces as they do on dishes. 2. Wipe Out. Begin by testing on an inconspicuous corner before doing a full-fledge scrubbing. Scrub the greasy surface back and forth with the soft side of the sponge until the soil is removed. If applicable, follow the grain. Dawn locks away grease so that it is not re-deposited as you clean the rest of the surface. 3. Tough It Out. For those stubborn stains, apply a few drops of Dawn directly to the soft side of the sponge and wipe the grease until it is removed. 4. Rinse Away. Wipe down the cabinets and remove any remaining grease and excess soap with a damp paper towel. Excess residue may lead to etching on certain materials. 5. Time To Dry. Immediately dry the surfaces with a clean paper towel. This will prevent streaking. You’re done. Wow. So that’s the original cabinet’s color.

Question: Preventing Grease Buildup on Kitchen CabinetsMarch 20, 20140 found this helpfulI am talking about grease build up on kitchen cabinets. Does anyone know a long term solution to prevent the grease build up in the first place? By madeiracake Answer Was this helpful? YesBy mom-from-missouri March 22, 20140 found this helpfulBest AnswerClean them often. I just evicted filthy renters who left the entire kitchen coated in grease. In the home I live in, I wipe my cabinets down every other day and after being here 8 years, have no grease buildup. It takes me all of 5 minutes. Also check your stove vent – is the vent clogged? If so, that will help with buildup. Also, how much food are you frying?? It isn't healthy to have a lot of fried foods. I only fry about once or twice a week. Sometimes on the stove, and sometimes in the fry daddy, and I make sure the lid stays on. Reply Was this helpful? Yes

Tip: Fight Grease With GreaseBy pho1608 2 found this helpfulDecember 1, 2015Don't spend money on expensive de-greasers and don't inhale toxic ammonia. Take 1 part mineral or vegetable oil to 2 parts baking soda. This makes the perfect cleanser for greasy cupboards. With a little rubbing, this gets even the most gummy build-up. For greasy film on the oven hood, just drop some oil on a paper towel and wipe it clean. This technique is so effective, I now keep a spray bottle with mineral oil to clean the gucky grease. But your solution is one I haven't tried. “Grease on Grease,” really? But my question is, “will this solution work great on glossy or oil painted walls and cabinets?” Thanks Reply Was this helpful? Well, there are so many suggestions on how to get grease off of wooden kitchen cabinets, but keep in mind, different solutions will only work for different cabinets. Wooden cabinets is such a broad term. Some may be finished with a varnish, some with a lacquer, some with just a stain or no stain and some older cabinets may have been painted over and over many times. So be careful and make sure you know what your cabinets' finish is made of. Don't just spray 409 on a cherry cabinet that may not have a varnish over it. It may dull or remove the luster. Some of the harsh cleansers may be good for cabinets that have a thick lacquer or varnish because they will just remove the grease, film or residue and nothing else, which is good.

Grease Melting Suds Dish soap, an alkaline-based product, cuts through grease, but so does heat. Fill your sink half full with tap water as hot as you can handle while wearing rubber gloves — hot water helps to break down or melt through built-up grease. Squirt a tablespoon or two of dish soap into the water, and use a sponge with an attached nylon-scouring pad as your grease-killing weapon. Attack the grime in a circular motion, but only for as long as it takes and with enough pressure to remove the stains — and not your cupboards’ finish. Change the water as it cools. Rinse and dry your cabinetry to a shine.
